The US embassy in Baghdad has issued a security alert advising US citizens to “maintain heightened readiness and stay alert to local news” amid regional developments. The alert warns that travel disruptions and sudden airspace closures could occur “on short notice”. It also notes that Iraq remains under the highest-level US travel advisory, with Washington advising its citizens not to travel to the country “for any reason” and urging those already there to depart immediately.
