Sindh govt test runs ‘Peoples Bus Service’ in Sukkur

Sukkur: It is reported on Wednesday that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP-led) Sindh government has successfully conducted test run of Peoples Bus service in Sukkur, a move aimed at improving the city’s transportation. According to details, after successfully operating in Karachi, Larkana and Hyderabad, the Sindh government has launched the Peoples’ Bus service in Sukkur this month.

China’s biggest air show opens amidst zero-Covid policy

Beijing:On Nov 8, a scaled-down version of China's biggest air show opened. Some delegates were unable to attend because of the country's zero-Covid policy as virus cases reached their highest level in six months. A China-based executive at a Western engine maker said that a lot of Beijing-based delegates had returned home in frustration, though some were allowed in at the last minute. The show's organizers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Switzerland breaks record for longest passenger train

In a feat, Switzerland has created a world record by operating the longest passenger train on the planet. The world’s longest electric passenger train is designed to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the country’s first train system. This train ran in the Swiss Alps with 100 coaches. The record-breaking train was formed of 25 new "Capricorn" electric trains and 100 cars stretching more than 1.2 miles. The train traveled through a UNESCO World Heritage site in eastern Switzerland.

‘A game changer’: Türkiye inaugurates its first national car plant

  Türkiye inaugurated its first national car manufacturing plant, Gemlik Campus in the country’s northwest province of Bursa. The plant will oversee the mass roll out of the country’s first domestically produced and much-anticipated car "TOGG". While "TOGG" is an acronym for a consortium of five companies. "We have not used the word ‘car’ in promoting the brand. TOGG will provide the comfort of home and a wholesome experience to its users", Gurcan Karakas, the chief executive officer of TOGG told during inauguration.

Over 500 vehicles gutted in Karachi fire

Karachi: It was reported that over 500 motorcycles, a bus, two rickshaws, and six to seven cars kept at a central vehicle pool were reduced to ashes. The fire initially broke out in the bushes, but the flames soon spread to the Nazarat — a place where case property or stolen vehicles are kept after recovery. Firefighters and fire tenders were sent to the site soon after the blaze was reported.

PM Imran Khan joins Winter Olympics ceremony

On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan joined other world leaders at Beijing's National Stadium to observe the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics 2022. The premier was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, and Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar on the occasion. Skier Mohammad Karim from Gilgit-Baltistan is the only athlete parading at the ceremony.

Sony unveils electric SUV prototype

China pressurizes Continental over Lithuania

Vilnius/Frankfurt: On Dec 17, China is pressuring German car parts giant Continental (CONG.DE) to stop using parts made in Lithuania. The reports came amidst a conflict between Beijing and the Baltic state over the status of Taiwan. Continental, one of the world's largest car parts maker, has spare parts production units in Lithuania that make electronic parts for automobile doors and seats, and exports to clients including China.

PM Imran Khan inaugurates Green Line Bus

Karachi: On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan formally inaugurated the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit project to solve the rampant issue of metropolitan's notorious public transport miseries. The premier was escorted by senior officials, including Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and federal Planning Minister Asad Umar. He also visited a local bus terminal to examine the infrastructure and ticketing system.

Skardu airport to operate flights from December 2

The Civil Aviation Authority announced on Wednesday that the Skardu airport had been upgraded and promoted to international status and would begin operations from this Thursday (Dec 2). The agency explained that the airport's preliminary operations would be executed under the Visual Flight Rules (VFR) only. Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan had proclaimed the decision to raise Skardu airport to international standards in early 2020.

Russia starts missile supplies to India amidst U.S. sanctions risk

Moscow: It emerged on Sunday that Russia had started delivering India with S-400 air defense missile systems, the head of the Russian military cooperation agency. He said that the first unit of S-400 systems would enter India by the end of this year. The supplies would put India at risk of sanctions from the US under a 2017 U.S. law that deters countries from buying Russian military hardware.

Emirates to start Dubai-Tel Aviv daily flights

Dubai: It emerged on Thursday that Emirates will be starting daily flights between Dubai and Tel Aviv from December 6. the airline's announced is the latest sign of heightening ties since the UAE and Israel normalised connections in September 2020. The new service would also link Israel seamlessly with its global route network, said the Dubai-based carrier.

Tesla has not signed a contract with Hertz yet: Elon Musk

PIA suspends flights to Kabul

It emerged on Thursday that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has halted flights to Kabul, citing overbearing interference at the hands of Taliban authorities. The decision was taken immediately as the Taliban authority ordered PIA to cut ticket prices to the minimum level. CNG shortage: Sindh CNG stations to stay closed for 3 days

Due to a gas scarcity in the province, the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) ordered CNG outlets in Sindh to stay closed for three days on Friday. According to the SSGC statement, CNG stations will be closed from 8:00 a.m. Friday until 8:00 a.m. Monday. The unexpected news of gas station closures has outraged motorists, who are now demanding that the government explains why there is a gas scarcity even before the winter season has started.

Plane lands safely at Lahore airport, after surviving a bird strike

A foreign airline passenger plane was attacked by a bird near the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore on Tuesday, narrowly avoiding an accident. The Istanbul-bound plane, which had roughly 350 passengers on board, was hit by a bird as soon as it took off from the airport. The pilot, on the other hand, was able to spin the jet around and safely land it at the airport. The airline agreed to the passengers' request and arranged lodging arrangements for them. It also guaranteed passengers that they will be rebooked on another trip to Istanbul and that their PCR test fees would be returned.  

Petrol Prices to Increase in October

The price of petrol is anticipated to rise by Rs5.25 per litre from October 1, according to sources, citing a proposal made to the Finance Division by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). According to the sources, the price of diesel is set to rise by Rs3.5 per litre, with the Ministry of Finance making a final decision after consulting with Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Green Line buses shipment reached Pakistan

OGRA proposes new price for petroleum products

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has sent a summary to the Petroleum Division to increase in prices of petroleum products. sources, reported that OGRA has suggested an increase of Rs 1 per liter of petrol, Rs 10.50 per liter high speed diesel, Rs 5 per liter in the price of kerosene and Rs 5.5 per liter of light diesel oil .

Govt announces reduction in prices of petrol

The federal government has announced a reduction in the prices of petroleum products. According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, petrol and diesel prices have been reduced by Rs 1.5 per liter. The new price of petrol for the next 15 days has gone up to Rs 118.30 per liter.

No fuel for unvaccinated: Lahore District Administration

The government has released new order according to which Lahore petrol stations will not sell petrol to unvaccinated people from 1st September. Different banners and posters have been placed at petrol pumps of Lahore, saying, "From September 1, only customers with coronavirus vaccine certificates will be able to purchase petrol."
