China will send its first civilian astronaut into space as part of a crewed mission to the Tiangong space station on Tuesday, according to officials. Gui Haichao, a payload expert, would take off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on Tuesday at 9:31am local time (01:31 GMT), the China Manned Space Agency stted. Until now, all Chinese astronauts sent into space have been members of the People’s Liberation Army.
