Trump’s promise of a mutual de-escalation between Hezbollah and Israel offers “limited reassurance” for those living in and around the Lebanese capital, an analyst tells Al Jazeera. “There’s a feeling of respite in the air that Beirut, and the wider suburbs of Beirut, are not going to be targeted right now,” said Ronnie Chatah, host of the Beirut Banyan podcast. Trump appeared to successfully make “breathing space” for the talks that just began in Washington between Israeli and Lebanese negotiators.
