DAMASCUS: Syria expects negotiations with Israel over a security agreement to resume soon, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said, urging Israel to seize what he called a “historic opportunity” for diplomacy. Speaking to Reuters, he said Damascus’ priority was ending Israeli attacks and that confidence-building measures were needed. The United States has been trying to broker an agreement between Israel and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s government, but efforts have stalled amid Israeli military activity inside Syria.
