Any attack on Makkah or Madinah is a ‘red line’, says Pakistan’s PM Sharif

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has told the UN General Assembly that any attack on the holy cities of Makkah or Madinah would be a “red line”. Saudi Arabia’s air defences destroyed a Houthi drone south of Makkah before it entered prohibited airspace over the holy city last week. Nauman Mahmood Takes Key Role in Defence Alliance

Retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood has been appointed the first secretary general of the Makkah Defence Alliance between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. Pakistan Names First Makkah Defence Alliance Chief

Pakistan has appointed retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first secretary general of the Makkah Defence Alliance involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. He will head the alliance’s secretariat in Riyadh for an initial three-year term. Bangladesh signals openness to joining Pakistan-Turkiye-Saudi Arabia defence pact

Funeral of Saudi student stabbed to death in Cambridge takes place in Makkah

The funeral of a Saudi student who was stabbed to death in Cambridge has taken place in his home city of Makkah. The 20-year-old was killed last weekend and his father spent the week in the university city making arrangements and trying to grasp what happened to his beloved son. Mr Alqassem's body was buried at the Al-Shuhada Cemetery after it was flown back from the UK, accompanied with his family. Kiswa of Holy Kaaba raised to mark start of Hajj 2024

In preparation for the start of Hajj 2024, the authorities in Makkah, Saudi Arabia raised the Kiswa (Ghilaf-e-Kaaba). The Kiswa, the cloth covering the Holy Kaaba, was raised by three meters and the lower part was covered with a white cotton cloth (Ihram) two meters wide on all four sides, an annual practice to help prevent damage to the Kaaba before the Hajj.
