Editorial & Fact-Checking Policy
At Pakistan Times Today, our guiding principle is uncompromising truth, verified accuracy, and balanced reporting. We hold ourselves to strict journalistic standards across all news beats.
1. Fact-Checking & Verification Protocol
Every news dispatch undergoes multi-tier fact-checking before publication. Our desk verifies:
Primary Source Verification
Direct cross-examination with official court documents, central bank disclosures, gazettes, and verified on-the-record spokespersons.
Corroboration Standard
Anonymous leaks or sensitive whistleblower claims require a minimum of two independent, mutually disconnected sources before greenlighting.
2. Right of Reply & Fair Balance
Whenever an article contains critical allegations or negative assertions regarding an individual, public official, corporation, or institution, our reporters make all reasonable efforts to obtain and incorporate their perspective or official response prior to publication.
If a response is not provided before our publication deadline, the article will transparently state that comment was sought and remains pending.
3. Separation of News & Commentary
We maintain an impermeable wall between factual news reporting and subjective commentary. Opinion pieces, columns, editorials, and analytical essays are clearly categorized under Opinion or marked with author bylines to prevent reader confusion.
4. Conflict of Interest & Integrity
- Reporters and editors may not trade securities or accept financial remuneration related to subjects they cover.
- Any travel or accommodation subsidized by third parties must be disclosed to the editorial director.
- Gifts of value greater than nominal promotional merchandise are returned or refused.
