Retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood has been appointed the first secretary general of the Makkah Defence Alliance between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. He will lead its secretariat in Riyadh as the alliance develops its institutional structure. A former corps commander, intelligence official and National Defence University president, Mahmood brings extensive experience in military strategy and security affairs.
