Pakistan Names First Makkah Defence Alliance Chief

Pakistan has appointed retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood as the first secretary general of the Makkah Defence Alliance involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. He will head the alliance’s secretariat in Riyadh for an initial three-year term. The agreement provides for member states to regard an attack on one member as an attack on all, strengthening collective defence cooperation.
