Azizullah Fazli, chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), has stated that the Taliban will not prevent women from participating in sports, particularly cricket. Fazli makes these remarks after learning that women do not currently play cricket in Afghanistan. Things have altered in the country since the Taliban took power, with the men’s ODI series against Pakistan and the team’s one-off Test in Australia both being scrapped.

Women’s cricket came to a halt, and tales surfaced about how the 25 nationally contracted female cricketers were hiding in Kabul.
