After five days, thousands of houses in Scotland and the north of England are still without power.

Hurricane Irwin, according to sources, killed three people on Friday and left thousands of households without power due to winds of up to 100 miles per hour (160 kilometres per hour).

Engineers had restored 97 percent of the houses as of Wednesday morning, according to the Energy Networks Association (ENA), while about 30,000 remained without power. It may take longer to restore power to 30,000 homes. ENA asserted, “We have teams of engineers working around the clock to repair the network.”
