US fires Hellfire missiles at cargo ship accused of breaching Iran blockade

US forces fired two Hellfire missiles into a Panama-flagged vessel, Vela Nova, after its crew ignored repeated warnings while sailing towards an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman, according to US Central Command. The strike disabled the vessel’s steering gear and stopped it from continuing towards Iran.
