Some schools and nurseries reopened in northern Israel on Sunday after Israel’s Home Front Command eased security restrictions amid a ceasefire with neighbouring Lebanon. Educational centres in Israeli-occupied areas of the Syrian Golan Heights were also allowed to reopen under the new guidelines, which apply to schools which have a shelter nearby in the case of rocket fire. A ceasefire with Hezbollah came into effect on Wednesday and is designed to allow displaced Lebanese and Israelis to return to their homes.
