A former member of Israel’s war cabinet has said Gideon Sa’ar, rumoured to replace Yoav Gallant as defence minister, is unqualified to serve in the role. Gadi Eisenkot, who quit the war cabinet in June, says Mr Sa’ar, former justice minister, should not give into a “cynical move” by Mr Netanyahu to fire his current defence chief. “This will be remembered as an opportunistic move that will allow Netanyahu……it will take him many months to fit into the position,” Mr Eisenkot said in an interview with Israel’s Kan public broadcaster.
