The US on Wednesday was forced to defend its Security Council veto of Palestine’s bid for full membership of the UN. Robert Wood, the US deputy ambassador to the UN, told the General Assembly that President Joe Biden’s administration believes Palestinian membership should be tied to a comprehensive peace agreement that would “permanently resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict”.
