Heavy Rain Disrupts Routine in Twin Cities

RAWALPINDI: Heavy rain lashed Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday, flooding low-lying areas and sharply raising water levels in Leh Nullah. The PMD reported 29 feet at Kattarian and 23.5 feet at Gawalmandi, prompting evacuations as catchment areas received heavy rainfall. Several parts of Islamabad also recorded significant rain, with drains overflowing. Nullah Lai faces flood risk amid heavy rains in Rawalpindi, Islamabad

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday issued a flood alert for Rawalpindi's Nullah Lai after three days of continuous rainfall in the twin cities since Monday. Rainfall with strong winds lashed twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday. Various localities of Islamabad also hit by hailstorm along with rain and strong winds. The rain affected vehicular traffic flow in Rawalpindi. The rooftop of Quaid-e-Azam University’s canteen collapsed during rainfall. Govt decides to repatriate registered Afghan refugees from twin cities

The federal government has decided to repatriate registered Afghan refugees living in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. According to a notification letter issued by the Prime Minister’s House, the refugees will be relocated by March 31. One casualty in Islamabad-Rawalpindi rains

As per the reports, several areas in the twin cities were flooded with at least one child dead as monsoon rains lashed Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The child’s death occurred due to drowning, in the Leh Nullah in Rawalpindi’s Hazara Colony area, a spokesperson for Rescue 1122 told. The spokesperson said that two friends had dared each other to jump in the Nullah, following which one of them drowned. A search operation was ongoing to recover the child’s body, he added. More than 150 new dengue patients reported in twin cities

On Tuesday, 157 new cases of dengue fever were reported in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan's twin cities. According to Dr. Zaeem Zia, the Islamabad District Health Officer, 56 of the 94 cases were recorded from rural regions and 38 from urban areas. According to him, 25 patients were admitted to Federal General Hospital, 14 to Holy Family Hospital, eight to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), four to Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and one to Polyclinic, with the other 43 patients being treated at various private hospitals.
