Iraq seeks energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria

Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi said in his speech that Iraq wanted to develop energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria to help address the Strait of Hormuz bottleneck. Mr Al Zaidi said Iraq was concerned by the blockade of shipping in the Middle East and the effect on energy prices worldwide. “In order to contain the subsequent risks and the consequences for our peoples, we are working to diversify our oil export ports and develop energy lines and corridors linking Iraq, Turkey, Jordan and Syria,” he said. Gaza peace plan sponsors demand Israel ensure UN and NGO access

The UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan and Turkey have issued a statement expressing concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza amid a harsh winter and a lack of aid. The eight nations, all involved in Gaza mediation efforts and the US-led peace plan for the Palestinian territory, demanded that Israel ensure the UN and international NGOs “are able to operate in Gaza and the West Bank in a sustained, predictable, and unrestricted manner, given their integral role in the humanitarian response in the strip”. UN Security Council will be 'instrumental' in Gaza stability: Turkey

The UN Security Council will be "instrumental" in forming an international stabilisation force for Gaza, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said. "Right now for Gaza, we are talking about how to form a stability force, and the UN Security Council is also going to be instrumental in this," Mr Fidan said at a press conference in Ankara with his German counterpart Johann David Wadephul. Turkey closes Dardanelles strait due to forest fire

Turkey has closed the Dardanelles strait to shipping traffic due to forest fires in the area. The country's ministry of transport told The National that traffic had been “temporarily suspended in both directions due to the fires in Canakkale”. An official was unable to confirm a schedule from the ministry's directorate of coastal safety which suggested the closure would continue until midnight. Erdogan says Gazans must not die for 'hunk of bread'

Turkey condemns 'clear violation of international law'

Turkey has condemned Israel's seizure of the symbolic Gaza-bound aid yacht, which it said was carrying Turkish citizens among its 12-strong crew, calling the move a "clear violation of international law". Ministers from Arab and Muslim countries will convene for the 20th time for talks on Gaza in the Turkish resort city of Antalya, a Turkish Foreign Ministry official has said, as conditions worsen in the Palestinian enclave. The Gaza Contact Group, comprised of ministers from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Co-operation and Arab League, will focus talks on achieving a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, as well as the release of hostages and detainees, and full humanitarian access to the strip, a Foreign Ministry official said. Turkey welcomes Arab League plan on Gaza

Turkey's Foreign Ministry has said it welcomes the plan for Gaza's reconstruction and future governance put forward by Arab League members in Cairo as an alternative to US President Donald Trump's vision for the coastal strip. Ankara did not send a representative to the Arab League meeting, but Turkish officials have repeatedly stated that they support a ceasefire deal for the Palestinian enclave.
