Iraq seeks energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria

Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi said in his speech that Iraq wanted to develop energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria to help address the Strait of Hormuz bottleneck. Mr Al Zaidi said Iraq was concerned by the blockade of shipping in the Middle East and the effect on energy prices worldwide. “In order to contain the subsequent risks and the consequences for our peoples, we are working to diversify our oil export ports and develop energy lines and corridors linking Iraq, Turkey, Jordan and Syria,” he said. ‘Golan will remain Syrian territory’: Syrian President al-Sharaa

Al-Sharaa has said that any attempts to violate Syria’s sovereignty and international law “will be stopped”. He added, “Golan will remain Syrian territory,” and that any attempts to violate that will be “thwarted”, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 497. He thanked all who abided by international law and “those who refrained from reinterpreting Resolution 497”. Al-Sharaa condemns Israel’s continued attacks on Syria

The Syrian president has condemned Israel’s attacks on his country saying that “there have been 500 air strikes, more than 1,200 incursions, and 300 detentions”. “This is at odds with the orientation we’re seeing at global level. It is reminiscent of an era that we thought was long gone,” al-Sharaa said. He called for the withdrawal of Israel and commitment to the 1974 agreement, saying “we reject Israeli attempts to impose a fait accompli. Katz says Israeli forces to remain in Syria-Lebanon border area

Defence Minister Israel Katz says Israeli forces will remain in the Jabal al-Sheikh (Mount Hermon) area and Syria’s security zone “as long as there are threats”. During a visit to the area, Katz said that the forces “look down on Damascus, 35 kilometres away; look down on the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon and Hezbollah’s stronghold; and, of course, watch over and protect the communities of the Golan Heights and the Galilee”, as reported by Israel National News. Syria expects Israel security talks to resume soon

DAMASCUS: Syria expects negotiations with Israel over a security agreement to resume soon, Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said, urging Israel to seize what he called a “historic opportunity” for diplomacy. Speaking to Reuters, he said Damascus’ priority was ending Israeli attacks and that confidence-building measures were needed. Syrian FM Shaibani to Visit Pakistan Today: FO Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani will visit Pakistan on August 19-20 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office said Wednesday. More than 100 Israeli forces participated in raid in Syria’s Quneitra: State media

Earlier,there were reports of Israeli forces storming Syria’s Jubata al-Khashab in the northern countryside of Quneitra province and detaining two people. Syria’s state news agency SANA reports that the operation included more than 100 Israeli military personnel and 15 military vehicles.
