PBC Members Raise Concerns Over Government Conduct

Eight Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) members on Saturday condemned what they called the government’s “blatant, wilful and deliberate violation” of the Supreme Court’s Aug 18 order concerning PTI founder Imran Khan. In a statement, they said the court’s directive was clear, unequivocal and binding, but the executive had disregarded it and acted in defiance of the judiciary. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday filed a contempt petition over the alleged violation of the Supreme Court's order concerning party founder Imran Khan's hospital transfer. In its petition, the party sought initiation of contempt proceedings against those allegedly responsible, along with show-cause notices and directions for their personal appearance before the court. PTI Questions Government Over Khan’s Hospital Move ISLAMABAD: The PTI on Friday criticised the government for allegedly violating Supreme Court directions regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital. The party founder was instead taken to government-run Pims, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed. Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, speaking alongside his physician Dr Faisal Sultan, said they were summoned to Adiala jail for his medical examination. The federal government filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against its decision to transfer jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Pakistan (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital. The petition was filed by the Islamabad chief commissioner through the advocate general for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). Israeli court’s ruling on Gaza doctor ‘illustrates arbitrary detention policy’

The Israeli Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the detention of Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, “serves as a stark illustration” of a policy of arbitrary detention affecting thousands of Palestinian prisoners, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society says.
