Iraq seeks energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria

Prime Minister Ali Al Zaidi said in his speech that Iraq wanted to develop energy links with Turkey, Jordan and Syria to help address the Strait of Hormuz bottleneck. Mr Al Zaidi said Iraq was concerned by the blockade of shipping in the Middle East and the effect on energy prices worldwide. “In order to contain the subsequent risks and the consequences for our peoples, we are working to diversify our oil export ports and develop energy lines and corridors linking Iraq, Turkey, Jordan and Syria,” he said. Iraq says most cargo vessels transiting Hormuz belong to its fleet

Oil Minister Bassem Mohammad Khadeer says the majority of oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz belong to Iraq. Iraq managed to export four million barrels of oil in a single day in September, Kadeer said, adding the daily average this month stands at 2.6 million barrels a day. Iran captures unmanned US submarine as sea warfare intensifies

The IRGC says its naval forces “trapped one of the most modern, intelligent, unmanned submarines of the terrorist US army at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz”. Iranian state media identified the vessel as a Dive-LD – an autonomous underwater vehicle built by California-based defence firm Anduril Industries. In the past 24 hours, the Palestinian Health Ministry said that four Palestinians were killed by Israeli gunfire and attacks in Qalqilya, Nablus and Tulkarem. Seven ⁠commodity vessels transited ⁠the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday, down from 17 a day earlier and below the ⁠10-day average of 15, preliminary shipping data showed on Friday. Shipping Risks Rise in Gulf Waters

The Strait of Hormuz has remained a key flashpoint in the six-month Iran-US-Israel war, with commercial vessels repeatedly targeted. The International Maritime Organization has confirmed 68 incidents across the Gulf and nearby waters, leaving at least 20 seafarers or port workers dead, 35 injured and one missing.
