Yemen closes all airports until further notice after Sanaa bombing

Yemen’s civil aviation authority has ordered the closure of all airports to air traffic until further notice. Yemen’s internationally recognised government said its forces carried out a strike on Sanaa airport to prevent an Iranian aircraft from landing there. “The Houthi terrorist militia, supported by the Iranian regime, prevented Yemeni national aircraft from landing at the capital’s airport, Sanaa, and insisted that the Iranian aircraft violate Yemeni airspace. Qatar Airways to resume flights to Iraq starting May 10

Qatar Airways says it will resume flights to Baghdad, Basra and Erbil airports in Iraq from May 10. Qatar initially closed its airspace on February 28 following US and Israeli strikes on Iran that launched the war, citing “precautionary measures” taken in response to “the latest developments in the region” and a need to guarantee “the highest levels of safety and security for all flights”. European airports could face jet fuel shortages within three weeks: Report 

European airports could face jet fuel shortages within three weeks if trade flows through the Strait of Hormuz are not fully restored, according to a Financial Times report. The Financial Times, citing a letter from Airports Council International Europe (ACI Europe) to European Commission officials, reported that the group warned the bloc about dwindling jet fuel reserves across the sector. The letter said airports in Europe could face a “systemic shortage” of jet fuel unless trade through the Strait of Hormuz returns to normal within three weeks. Read More…

Israel claims it attacked dozens of Iranian aircraft, helicopters at three airports across Tehran

Israel has claimed that it had attacked dozens of aircrafts and helicopters belonging to the Iranian Air Force at three airports across the capital, Tehran. In a statement, Israel claimed its air force "carried out overnight a wide wave of strikes against the Iranian Air Force at airports in Tehran.” It added: “Dozens of Israeli Air Force fighter jets conducted the strikes against Iranian aircrafts and helicopters, as well as infrastructure used for military purposes at three airports across Tehran: Bahram Airport, Mehrabad Airport, and Azmayesh Airport.” Read More…

Sri Lanka refused ground access to US warplanes, says president 

Sri Lanka refused permission to the United States to station two of its warplanes at an airport in the island's south in early March, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake told parliament.
