US technology stocks plunged on Thursday as investors worried that newly elected lawmakers could restrict the expansion of AI data centres. The Nasdaq fell more than five per cent before recovering some losses, while Nvidia dropped over six per cent and AMD declined 12 per cent. A rebound in oil prices also weighed on global markets, reversing gains made after the midterm elections.
