Hunger-related deaths have been on the rise in Gaza, especially among children with severe malnutrition since the escalation of hostilities, said Ramesh Rajasingham, head and representative of the UN’s humanitarian affairs office in Geneva. The health authorities in Gaza documented the deaths of 98 children from severe acute malnutrition, 37 since July 1, he said. “This is no longer a looming hunger crisis. This is starvation, pure and simple.”
