Pakistan has become one of the most dangerous countries for children, with a 13 percent higher mortality rate than the Western world, as 159 children have died of the corona virus in Pakistan since March 2020.
According to a joint study conducted by the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and National Institute of Child Health at Aga Khan University in Karachi, the Children’s Hospital in Lahore, and the Benazir Bhutto Hospital in Rawalpindi, the percentage of deaths among children was over 14 percent, which is ‘unusually high’ when compared to western countries where COVID-19 mortality rates are under one percent.
