On July 25, South Africa formally asked the United Arab Emirates to extradite Rajesh and Atul Gupta, brothers who face corruption charges relating to former president Jacob Zuma’s time in power. The justice minister Ronald Lamola told reporters, “We can confirm that the extradition request has been duly submitted to the United Arab Emirates’ central authority today.” South Africa had 60 days to submit the request, after Dubai police arrested the Guptas in June.
