The Arab world has launched an internet campaign asking for a boycott of Indian products in response to derogatory remarks about the Holy Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) made by a prominent official in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Last week’s comments by a spokesman for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s party were blamed for violence in an Indian state, prompting calls for her arrest, with outrage extending to Muslim countries.

Saudi Arabia has become the latest Gulf country to rebuke Nupur Sharma, a spokesman for the Bharatiya Janata Party, during a televised discussion last week.
