The Cannes Film Festival will screen the farewell film of Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravičius, who was assassinated by Russian soldiers in Ukraine last month.

Kvedaravicius was apparently arrested and slain while filming a followup to his renowned documentary “Mariupolis,” about the violence in the Donbas region.

His fiancée Hanna Bilobrova, who was with him in Mariupol during the siege, carried his footage out of the country, where it was edited by Dounia Sichov.
