It was reported that the promised ceasefire in the besieged port city of Mariupol collapsed amid scenes of terror. A pro-Russian official announced that safe-passage corridors would open again for city residents. On the other hand, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the ongoing resistance was putting Ukrainian statehood in jeopardy and drew a parallel between the West’s sanctions on Russia to “declaring war”.
