Altaf Hussain, the leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), has been found not guilty of promoting terrorism in Karachi from London, in violation of the UK’s section 1(2) of the Terrorism Act 2006.

A jury of 12 found Altaf Hussain not guilty of promoting acts of terrorism, which is a big relief and a huge personal win for the exiled MQM leader. The jury members informed Mrs Justice May that they had found Altaf Hussain not guilty of the charges presented by the Crown Prosecution Service after attending and hearing the trial on a daily basis for nearly two weeks and debating on the verdict for three days.
