Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested heads of state on Thursday to increase oxygen supply and improve health facilities to prevent an increase in omicron cases as public gatherings and their size grow over the festive season.

India has recorded 236 cases of omicron coronavirus in 16 states in the last 24 hours, more than double the amount from the previous week, according to the federal health ministry. According to the government, the prime minister has directed officials to guarantee that state health care systems, beginning at the district level, are strengthened to handle any new problems.
