On Wednesday, Thailand’s parliament rejected strongly a draft bill for consolidating democracy in the country. The bill and its backers wanted to discard or rebuild the main institutions which, they claimed, were commandeered by the military aristocracy. In a joint session of the lower house of parliament, the Senate voted 473-206 to reject the bill.
