India’s Independence Day on Saturday was marked by widespread strikes, boycotts, and protest demonstrations across Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as well as several northeastern Indian states, with multiple regional groups observing the occasion as a “Black Day”. According to media reports, calls for a complete shutdown and boycott from political, community, and political parties in IIOJK, the Sikh community, and various northeastern regions have raised significant questions regarding the official Indian government narrative of “One India.”
