More than 150 people have died as a result of flash floods caused by heavy rains in two Indian states, Uttarakhand and Kerala, as well as sections of Nepal. Landslides pushed rocks into homes, submerging or crushing them.
At least 50 people died in Uttarakhand, including five from a single-family, and 77 people killed in Nepal, with dozens more missing in both countries.
Rains farther south in India’s Kerala state produced catastrophic floods, killing 39 more people. Six additional bodies were discovered in Uttarakhand on Wednesday, bringing the death toll in the Himalayan state, a major tourist destination, to 52.
