Pakistan’s talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are progressing well, according to Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Reza Baqir.

He was speaking to Pakistanis living abroad on Tuesday at an event in London, where he had been for the previous four days.

Baqir’s statement came after Jihad Azour, the Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, indicated that talks between Pakistan and the IMF on the $6 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) are going “very good.”
