WhatsApp, the most popular smartphone messaging software, was taken offline for several hours before being restored by CEO Keith Cart, who stated that WhatsApp was “back up and running.”

At roughly 8:30 p.m., all Facebook-owned social media networks, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook itself, went offline worldwide. After a seven-hour blackout, the platform was restored about 4 a.m.

“We’re entirely back up and running now, we know that people were unable to use WhatsApp to connect with their friends, family, businesses, community groups, and more today — a humbling reminder of how much people and organisations rely on our app every day.” Keith Cart tweeted.
