Covid-19 positive rate in Pakistan stands at 2.82%

According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 51,343 corona tests were performed across the country in the previous 24 hours, with an additional 1,453 corona cases recorded. According to the NCOC, the overall number of corona cases across the nation has reached 1,255,321 in the past 24 hours, while the total number of deaths has increased to 28,032 and the rate of positive cases has reached 2.82 percent.

CEO of WhatsApp breaks silence about the social media outage

WhatsApp, the most popular smartphone messaging software, was taken offline for several hours before being restored by CEO Keith Cart, who stated that WhatsApp was “back up and running.” At roughly 8:30 p.m., all Facebook-owned social media networks, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook itself, went offline worldwide. After a seven-hour blackout, the platform was restored about 4 a.m. “We’re entirely back up and running now, we know that people were unable to use WhatsApp to connect with their friends, family, businesses, community groups, and more today — a humbling reminder of how much people and organisations rely on our app every day.” Keith Cart tweeted.    

Pills introduced to prevent Covid-19

According to data that experts hailed as a potential breakthrough in how the virus is controlled, an experimental antiviral tablet produced by Merck & Co (MRK.N) might half the risks of dying or being hospitalized for individuals most at risk for getting severe COVID-19. If approved by the US, molnupiravir, which is meant to induce mistakes into the virus's genetic coding, would be the first oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19.

Huge increase in Dengue cases seen in Islamabad

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is on the rise in Islamabad, with 40 more people diagnosed in the last 24 hours. According to officials, the total number of dengue fever cases registered this season has risen to 409. In recent weeks, three people in Islamabad have died as a result of the mosquito-borne viral illness. According to the sources: “Two of the people were from underdeveloped parts of the country, while one was from a metropolitan area.”  

2nd OIC Summit on Science & Technology in December

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP): The next Science and Technology (S&T) Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) would be held online in early December due to the continuing pandemic situation and organized by the Government of the United Arab Emirates. It was said to be an opportunity for member States to reaffirm their commitment towards cooperation in science and technology.
