Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said on Tuesday the group would study a ceasefire proposal put forward after talks in Paris. He said he would visit Cairo to hold discussions on the plan. Mr Haniyeh said the group’s priority was to end Israel’s military offensive and secure a full withdrawal of the country’s forces from Gaza. “The movement is open to discussing any serious and practical initiatives or ideas, provided that they lead to a comprehensive cessation of [Israeli] aggression,” Hamas said in the statement.
