Walt Disney World Resort was opened to guests for the first time on October 1, 1971, the result of years spent thinking, planning, and building Walt Disney’s magnificent dream. Five decades later, on the same day, visitors relived that dream as they visited The Most Magical Place on Earth to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park shines at the heart of it all, welcoming guests with shining gold bunting, sparkling gold decorations, a 50th-anniversary crest, and other upgrades inspired by the work of Disney Legend Mary Blair.
