According to the reports, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced that he would convene a ”Climate Ambition Summit” in September 2023, saying ”it will be a no-nonsense summit. No exceptions. No compromises.” Speaking at his year-end news conference, he warned that the world was still moving in the wrong direction to fight climate change. ”The 1.5-degree goal is gasping for breath. National climate plans are falling woefully short,” he said, referring to the goal of limiting the Earth’s warming to 1.5°C (2.7°F)
