The UAE on Friday announced a $30 billion fund it said was designed to ease access to climate financing. Alterra will drive forward efforts to create a fairer climate finance system, with an emphasis on improving access to funding for the Global South, a statement read. It is comprised of a $25 billion fund named Alterra Acceleration that is designed to “steer institutional capital towards climate investments at scale that has the greatest potential to accelerate the transition to net-zero and a climate resilient economy”.
