Istanbul: It emerged on Monday that the lira slid as much as 4% against the dollar as Turkey prepared for inflation to soar further. Inflation has touched a 19-year peak with 36.1% by the end of 2021. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the worst of the economic chaos was left behind. The lira has weakened by 44% and listed its worst year in 2021 since Erdogan came to power nearly two decades ago.
