Istanbul: On Oct 26, Turkey’s competition authority fined Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc (META.O) 346.72 million lira ($18.63 million) for breaking competition law. “The 2021 update did not ask users to agree to let Facebook collect user data. It provided clearer, more detailed information to our users on how and why we use data,” the spokesperson said. “There were no changes to WhatsApp’s data sharing practices with that update,” he added.
