Lima: On Jan 16, the local civil defense authority reported that two people drowned off a beach in northern Peru. The unfortunate incident occurred due to unusually high waves recorded in several coastal areas following Saturday’s Tonga volcano in the Pacific Ocean. Peru’s National Institute of Civil Defense (Indeci) confirmed the deaths in a statement,” The death of two people by drowning occurred on a beach located in the Lambayeque region”.
