PML-N, PTI continue debate over external debt

Two days after the budget was formally presented in the National Assembly, the PML-N and the PTI continued to butt heads over each other's economic performance and the state of Pakistan's external debt. Earlier today, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb took to Twitter to share a video clip of Shaukat Tarin saying that PTI took 76% loans. "At last, Shaukat Tarin has admitted that Imran Khan took out loans worth Rs20 thousand billion during his four-year tenure, which is 76 percent of the loans taken out in Pakistan's history," She wrote.

FIA decides against prosecuting PM Shehbaz, Hamza in Money Laundering case

Three days before a special Lahore court was set to frame charges against the PML-N leaders, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chose not to prosecute Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz in the Rs16 billion money laundering case. According to a written motion filed in court, the FIA director general (DG) urged Special Prosecutor Sikander Zulqarnain Saleem not to attend in court since the "accused in the case are going to be elected Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chief Minister of Punjab" via the investigating officer.  

PML-N’s supporters stage protests outside Jamima Goldsmith’s house

On April 17, PML-N supporters staged a protest in London outside the residence of Jemima Goldsmith, the ex-wife of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Footage shared on social media showed a multitude of PML-N supporters waving flags, holding banners and placards, and chanting slogans in favor of their party supremo Nawaz Sharif and against Imran Khan. Police was deployed outside Jemima's home were also seen in the footage.

Shehbaz Sharif likely to become new PM today

The National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to elect Pakistan's 23rd prime minister today (Monday), after Imran Khan was removed from office in a no-confidence vote on Saturday night. Shehbaz Sharif of the PML-N and Shah Mahmood Qureshi of the PTI are the two candidates running for prime minister, with the former having a better chance of winning. The NA session to elect the new House leader, which was scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., will now begin at 2 p.m.  

PML-N doesn’t concede Pervaiz Elahi as CM Punjab: M Zubair

Lahore: On Feb 26, PML-N leader Mohammad Zubair expressed concerns over the proposal of PPP and JUI-F about CO Punjab. "Pervaiz Elahi cannot be the priority of his party for Punjab’s chief minister slot," he said. He further added, "Ousting the incumbent government is in the interest of the country and we [opposition] parties are completely agreed on it".

Fawad Chaudhary takes a jibe at Maryam Nawaz

On Thursday, Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry criticized opposition parties, proclaiming that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz was "celebrating her defeat" in the first phase of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). "Instead (of celebrating), they [PPP and PML-N] should have visited their party workers in KP to boost their morale. They should have done national politics," he said. PTI showed dismal results as JUI-F won 17 seats as compared to PTI's 12 seats.

Afnanullah Khan wants probe into plane damage case

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Afnanullah Khan on Sunday declared that he would raise the matter of damage of a Boeing aircraft by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) before the parliamentary committee concerned. PML-N Senator also asserted he had already asked Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation Hidayatullah to take notice of the matter for scrutiny and he formally wrote a letter to him in this regard.

SBP autonomy to deter probe into ‘hot money scandals’

Lahore: PML-N's Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ahsan Iqbal lashed out at the government on Thursday for " giving autonomy to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) under the IMF deal". He also claiming that such a scheme would stave off the central bank from investigating the hot money scandals that would come to light in future. He also claied that in Pakistan "the prospective changes will give the SBP governor the position of a viceroy who will not be answerable to any Pakistani institution but will be answerable to the IMF."

Fawad Chaudhry alleges PML-N of leaking ‘fake’ video

On Tuesday, Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry claimed that the "PML-N's Maryam Nawaz group" had set teams in the party to prepare fake video and audio clips in order to pressurize senior officials, including judges. In the said video, former CJP was heard saying that he was 'ordered' to keep Nawaz Sharif and Maryum Nawaz in jail.

Chances of deception have increased with the EVMs: Ahsan Iqbal

Islamabad: On Thursday, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal warned that EVMs could be tampered with to juggle election fallouts. "Polling results can be doctored through changing a chip in EVMs and that is the reason most countries have discarded these machines," he asserted. He also said that the 17 November will be remembered as the darkest day in the history of Pakistan.

Opposition to challenge electoral reforms in Supreme Court

On Wednesday, After a chaotic joint session of parliament, the opposite explicitly disagreed with the notion of electronic voting and announced to challenge the writ of govt in the Supreme Court. During the session, the government authorized amendments to the Elections Act, 2017, and many other bills. "The entire nation must be notified that the government did not win but lost during the joint session today," Bilawal Bhutto called down the govt.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi demands suo motu notice against ex-CJP

PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi demanded a suo motu notice against ex-CJP Mian Saqib Nisar for allegations of denying bail to the Sharif family ahead of the 2018 elections. "If Mian Nawaz Sharif can go to jail, why can't Mian Saqib Nisar?" He questioned during a press conference to address the matter. The Supreme Court should take suo moto notice of the matter now that fingers had been pointed at a former top judge in the report, he stated.

Saqib Nisar ordered not to release Maryam Nawaz before 2018 elections

In a notarized affidavit, an ex-chief justice of the Gilgit-Baltistan apex court made serious allegations against former chief justice Saqib Nisar, stating that he had witnessed then-CJP Saqib Nisar's order to a high court judge not to release Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on bail at any cost before the 2018 general elections. “Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif must remain in jail until the general elections are over. On assurances from the other side, he (Saqib Nisar) became calm and happily demanded another cup of tea,” this is what is said in the affidavit of the former top judge of GB.  

PM Imran deceiving nation on fuel price haul

On Friday, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal condemned the government over the recent hike in petrol rates. He alleged Prime Minister Imran Khan of "misleading the nation" on the issue. "Internationally, the fuel price increases by just 3%, and here it jacks up by 66%," the PML-N leader explained.

Inflation has gotten out of hand, Imran Khan’s time has ended: Shehbaz Sharif

Protest to be held by PMLN against inflation in Lahore

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will hold a protest demonstration in Lahore on Friday against the country's growing inflation. Humza Shahbaz, the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly and PML-N leader, will lead the protest demonstration. The event is being conducted in response to the party leadership's declaration of nationwide protests over growing prices and unemployment in the country. Following the announcement by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) of protest rallies and protests across the nation, the PML-N has also devised a plan to go to the streets in opposition to inflation and economic ruin.

Preparation for Maryam Nawaz’s arrest begin

NAB requested the court in the Avonfield case to have Maryam Nawaz's bail revoked. The National Accountability Bureau has petitioned the Islamabad High Court to have Maryam Nawaz's bail revoked. The National Accountability Bureau filed a 39-page petition to have Maryam Nawaz's bail revoked. Maryam Nawaz is not eligible for acquittal, according to the plea filed in the court. Because she was a woman, the Supreme Court granted her relief. Maryam Nawaz took advantage of the bail exemption. The National Accountability Bureau has asked the court to terminate Maryam Nawaz's bail. The NAB has filed an Article 199 application.

Big shock to PML-N, Parvaiz Malik passes away at 73

The PML-N was in shock after a key official and central leader died at 73. Pervaiz Malik, the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Lahore, has died. Pervez Malik was sick and being treated at a hospital. Today is the day he passed away. Pervaiz Malik was a member of the National Assembly, elected as a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (N), and served as the Minister of Commerce and Textile.

Former PM Nawaz Sharif chooses reconciliation over resistance

It was reported that the former PM Nawaz Sharif, addressing the PML-N meeting, stated that he would take the path of reconciliation rather than resistance. He said," he will be satisfied as far as the rule of law and constitution is followed".
