US envoy Steve Witkoff said that while there is no desire to “hurt” Iran, the reimposition of snapback sanctions is the necessary remedy if negotiations fail. “I think that we have no desire to hurt them. I think we have a desire, however, to either realise a permanent solution and negotiate around snapbacks,” he said during a panel discussion in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. “And if we can’t, then snapbacks will be what they are,” Mr Witkoff adding “They’re the right medicine for what’s happening.”
