New hantavirus cases emerge as governments quarantine cruise passenger

Hantavirus infections have been confirmed in France and the United States among passengers repatriated from the expedition cruise ship MV Hondius, health officials said Monday, as more than 20 countries imposed quarantine measures on returning travellers linked to the outbreak. US announces first bird flu death in Louisiana

A US patient who had been hospitalised with H5N1 bird flu has died, the Louisiana Department of Health said, marking the country’s first reported human death from the virus. "The patient contracted H5N1 after exposure to a combination of a non-commercial backyard flock and wild birds," the Louisiana Department of Health said in a statement on Monday. Pakistan reports two more polio cases, tally reaches 26

Two more cases of poliovirus have been reported from Sindh, bringing the total number of cases to 26. At least 187,000 children vaccinated in central Gaza

The UN said it has accomplished its mission to vaccinate children in central Gaza against the poliovirus, with its teams preparing to head south for the second leg of the first round of doses starting tomorrow. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed has instructed funds to be issued towards the delivery of a critical polio vaccination drive in Gaza following the re-emergence of the virus in the Palestinian territory. Pakistan reports 14th polio case of 2024

Another polio case emerged in Pakistan as a 20-month-old boy has been confirmed to be infected with the virus, media reported citing the National Institute of Health (NIH) sources. The sources said that the affected child belonged to the Kila Saifullah district of Balochistan.
