Green lockdown imposed in Lahore amid smog

The Punjab government on Wednesday imposed a green lockdown in various areas of Lahore to combat smog and pollution. According to the notification, the restrictions has been imposed on construction work , plying of chingchi rickshaws, and use of commercial generators. Restaurants and barbecue services will also restricted after 8 pm in the most affected areas. According to a notification issued here, the green lockdown has been imposed in different areas including Davis Road, Kashmir Road, Egerton Road, Durand Road, Abbott Road, Empress Road, Queen Road and Allama Iqbal Road. UK PM Sunak reportedly said ‘just let people die’

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was quoted as saying the government should “just let people die” during the COVID-19 pandemic rather than impose a second national lockdown, the inquiry into how Britain handled the crisis heard on Monday. Lockdowns lifted across China

Shanghai to impose phased Covid-19 lockdown

The city government said on Sunday that Shanghai would launch a phased lockdown to curb an Omicron-fuelled Covid-19 outbreak. Smart Lockdown to be imposed in 4 areas of Karachi

Following an upsurge in instances of coronavirus and the Omicron strain, a micro-smart lockdown has been implemented in four Karachi towns. The smart lockdown is imposed on the recommendation of the district health officer, according to a statement released by the central deputy commissioner. Health expert warns of lockdown in Karachi

Professor Shahid Rasool of Jinnah Sindh Medical University said on Thursday that the government may have to impose a lockdown in Karachi due to a rapid increase of COVID-19 cases during the previous few days, highlighting the importance of raising vaccination rates. Shahid Rasool, speaking exclusively to Geo News, claimed the low vaccination rate was the main reason for the city's rising number of Omicron cases. Austria plans lockdown for unvaccinated and uncured individuals

As cases of the coronavirus rapidly mount, Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg stated Friday that he wants to implement a statewide lockdown for individuals who have not been vaccinated or recovered from it. "The goal is clear: we want to give the go-ahead for a nationwide lockdown for the unvaccinated on Sunday," Schallenberg said at a press conference.
