Ukraine and Saudi Arabia reach defence 'arrangement' amid US-Israeli war on Iran

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday said that his country and Saudi Arabia have reached an “important arrangement” on defence cooperation during his visit to the Gulf nation. In a statement on the US social media company X, Zelenskyy said the agreement between the defence ministries of both countries was signed ahead of his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. “It lays the foundation for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investment. Zelenskyy says Russian strike damaged Qatar Embassy in Kyiv 

A massive Russian overnight attack on Ukraine damaged the Embassy of Qatar in Kyiv besides damaging other infrastructure, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Friday. "In addition to our civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, a building of the Embassy of Qatar was damaged last night by a Russian drone," Zelenskyy said on Telegram. He emphasised the diplomatic significance of the target, describing Qatar as "a state that does so much to mediate with Russia in order to secure the release of prisoners of war and civilians held in Russian prisons." Ukrainian officials have been briefing Zelenskyy following their meeting with US negotiators in Florida over the weekend. In a post on social media, the Ukrainian president said draft documents have been prepared following the meeting, including information on security guarantees for Ukraine and a basic framework for ending the war. Searches of the home of Andriy Yermak, Zelenskyy’s newly-resigned chief of staff, resulted in the seizure of several phones and laptops, Ukrainian media is reporting. Quoting sources in law enforcement agencies, the Ukrainska Pravda newspaper reported that investigators entered Yermak’s place of residence about 6am local time (04:00 GMT) and searched his quarters for a full six hours before emerging with multiple electronic devices.
