Search Continues for Missing Paraglider in Chitral

CHITRAL: Rescue teams resumed a search on Friday for 55-year-old paraglider Asif Mehmood, who went missing after bad weather hit during a flight from Zaini Pass. Five members of his group landed safely, but Mehmood continued towards Chitral city before losing radio contact. UN Climate Agency Warns of Rising Weather Threats

The UN weather agency warned Thursday that El Niño could become exceptionally strong in the coming months, potentially surpassing levels recorded over four decades. The World Meteorological Organisation said the phenomenon is almost certain to continue through February. El Niño warms Pacific Ocean waters and alters global wind, pressure and rainfall patterns. Severe weather strikes Gaza’s largest hospital

Al-Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest medical complex, has been hit by flooding and storm damage as severe weather swept across the Gaza Strip. The hospital sustained extensive damage during repeated Israeli attacks over two years of war, and rehabilitation efforts by the Gaza Health Ministry after a ceasefire took effect on October 10 have failed due to Israel blocking the entry of necessary equipment, according to Anadolu agency. Israel says its soldiers fired on UN peacekeepers due to ‘poor weather conditions’

Israel says its soldiers who fired at UNIFIL peacekeepers from a tank near an army position in southern Lebanon did so due to “poor weather conditions” and mistook the UN patrol for “suspects”. UNIFIL said the Israeli army fired on its peacekeepers this morning “from a Merkava tank from near a position Israel has established in Lebanese territory”. Pakistan launches project to upgrade early flood warning system

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has launched a major initiative to modernise the country’s early flood warning and weather forecasting systems under the World Bank-funded Integrated Flood Resilience Adaptation Project (IFRAP). The project, titled "Modernisation of Hydromet Services of Pakistan (MHSP)", aims to strengthen the country’s climate resilience by enhancing PMD’s capacity to generate, analyse, and disseminate reliable hydrometeorological data, stated a press release. Aid flotilla heading to Gaza returns to Barcelona due to stormy weather
