9/11 case suffers setback as US judge rejects Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's FBI confession

A US military judge has rejected confessions made by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the man accused of masterminding the 9/11 attacks, ruling that statements he gave to FBI agents were not voluntary and cannot be used at trial. Judge Lt Col Michael Schrama said Mohammed's 2007 statements were tainted by the “unbroken continuation” of coercive treatment he had endured while in CIA custody, according to the ruling. US judge rules 9/11 victims cannot seize Afghan funds

The families of victims of the September 11, 2011, terror attacks cannot seize $3.5 billion in funds belonging to Afghanistan’s central bank, a New York federal judge ruled on Tuesday. The assets, held in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, were frozen on August 15, 2021. US President Joe Biden later said the money could be made available to the families of 9/11 victims. New York: On Jan 12, it emerged that Britain's Prince Andrew failed to persuade a U.S. judge to dismiss Virginia Giuffre's lawsuit. US judge rejects Trump's plea to keep tax returns

Washington: It was reported that a U.S. District judge on Tuesday rejected a request by former President Donald Trump to keep his tax returns from a House of Representatives committee. He ruled that Congress' legislative interest surpassed any loyalty should not be given to Trump as a former president.
